Samska

Samska is now in Young Rider endurance home n Italy.

The elegant pure Russian mare Samska, born in 2010, is the result of crossing Gadebrook’s Premium stallion and racing champion Sambist with the lovely endurance mare GAS Skala. Skala's half sister GAS Strelka has also had a filly foal by Sambist: GAS Sofiya is now in an endurance home in Spain.

Samska is in foal to the leading Russian racehorse and AHS Premium stallion Vadeer, due in early July.

Samska achieved a First Premium and Reserve Highest Score at the 2012 national BEF Futurity Evaluations (British Equestrian Federation), proving her potential as a future endurance horse.

Samska is in foal to Vadeer, a dream cross of the two finest Russian racing pedigrees.

Vadeer is dramatic grey 15.2hh pure Arab AHS Premium stallion of classic Russian bloodlines; born 1989 by Mamluk (Aswan x Monogramma) out of Viola (Naftalin by Topol x Salvia).

He was a top-rated Arab racing stallion and the winner of $77,000. He has sired multiple winners including Ecliptic (also an AHS Premium stallion), Samehka, Simooma, Salsk, Khadeer, Desbrie and many more. His top class International Endurance progeny include VaVaar, VaVaVoom, Lavish, Dear Kate and Vakate.

Vadeer was an incredibly tough and consistent stallion on the race course with 10 wins from 26 starts between 1993 and 1995. He set three course records at Market Rasen, Lingfield and Folkestone. In 2011, he was crowned both “Leading Premium Endurance Sire” and “Leading Arab Racing Sire”, the first time the same stallion has won both titles in the same season. He passes on his incredibly tough limbs and mental ability to compete enduringly at the highest level.

Samska’s 2016 foal may well be one of the last from these pure Russian racing lines.

Samska's pedigree blends the blood of the four legendary Tersk stallions Priboj, Arax, Salon and Aswan, giving balance, strength, beauty - and speed.

She has a delightful, confident temperament and should make a good size as her dam did her very well.

Minutes old - but 12 days late, poor Skala!

As a foal, Samska ran out with her three-quarter sister GAS Sofiya (right) out of the dramatic white mare GAS Strelka. Strelka and Skala are both out of the Russian mare Strelitzia.

Both fillies show the elegance and pizzazz of the pure Russian lines which seem to compete equally successfully in the show ring as on the race course.

Sofiya is sold to an endurance home in northern Spain.
